Calm & Cozy Corner
Create a “Calm & Cozy Corner” at home—a space designed for relaxation during the holiday hustle.
What You’ll Need:
A small, quiet space
Cozy items like blankets, pillows, or stuffed animals
A few calming activities, such as coloring books, sensory items (like stress balls), or picture books
Optional: Soft lighting like fairy lights or a battery-powered candle
How It Works:
Set up the corner together as a family. Let your child help decide what calming items to include.
Explain that this is a special spot they can use when they feel overwhelmed or need a break.
Model its use by spending time there yourself and demonstrating deep breathing or quiet activities.
Encourage your child to use the corner whenever they need to reset during busy holiday moments.
This simple setup helps children recognize the importance of self-regulation and provides them with a tangible tool for managing holiday stress.
The holidays are a wonderful time to teach children valuable life skills, like handling stress in healthy ways. By focusing on connection, slowing down when needed, and creating opportunities for calm, you can ensure your family enjoys the season with more joy and less overwhelm. Remember, the memories you create are built on moments of togetherness, not perfection.
Thank you for joining us in this week’s Sproutly! Wishing your family a peaceful and magical holiday season 🌟
