My Resilience Storybook
Reflecting on past challenges helps children see themselves as capable of overcoming difficulties, reinforcing a growth mindset.
Sit down as a family and create a “Resilience Storybook” together. Ask your child to think of times when they faced challenges, such as learning a new skill or dealing with a tough day. Help them illustrate or write short stories about how they overcame each challenge.
Here are some variations for making the storybook:
Provide a simple template with prompts like "I felt _____ when _____ happened" and "I solved the problem by _____." Your child can fill in the blanks with your help
Ask your child to focus on just one instance of resilience. Have them draw a picture and tell you the story of what happened. Write down their words underneath the picture to create a single-page story.
Instead of making a book, use a jar to collect "resilience memories." Every time your child overcomes a challenge (e.g., "I cleaned up my toys by myself"), write it on a slip of paper and place it in the jar.

Resilience is a lifelong skill, and the small steps you take each day to encourage confidence, problem-solving, and emotional expression will make a lasting impact on your family’s ability to navigate challenges together.
Remember, resilience isn’t about avoiding difficulties; it’s about learning how to face them with strength, creativity, and support. By fostering resilience in your children—and modeling it yourself—you’re setting the foundation for a healthier, happier family.
Keep nurturing, keep growing, and stay resilient!
Warmly,
Millie & Melissa
